I have visited Milford Sound twice during my time in New Zealand. The first time was during the summer months and I was so excited to visit somewhere I had been looking at photos of for years. What I didn't know was how special the drive to Milford Sound is, you have to pinch yourself now and again to remind yourself that what you are seeing is real! Then, when you finally get to Milford Sound it does not disappoint, it is spectacular! The second time I visited just as the road re-opened after a night of heavy snow. I cannot even describe how I felt as I drove out of the Homer Tunnel and saw the Cleddau Valley covered in snow, with hundreds of waterfalls cascading down the cliffs! It literally took my breath away!
